I’m visiting family for a bit; they live in a suburban town where there are numerous deer roaming the neighborhood. The deer are absolutely fearless – my furball went into a barking fit to try scare them off (he doesn’t react well to changes in his universe) while I took this picture, and they didn’t flinch. Didn’t even bat an eye. He did twitch an ear, but I think that was because there was a fly.
It’s a little concerning. I was taught that wildlife should ideally be afraid of humans. And that they should not become reliant on them for food and water. And yet, people here encourage their presence.
